Are you an Alexa app user? Is English your second language?

Amazon’s Alexa is a device that gives you audio answers to your day to day questions like “which is the best restaurant around me?” or “what is the weather now?”. It also allows you to make shopping requests by saying “Alexa! Add batteries to my shopping list!”.

The complete features are available in English worldwide. However, for a non-English speaker, there is a way now to change the language in the Alexa app. They just need to confirm if the option to select their preferred language is available in their country.

Apart from English, Amazon Alexa supports several other regional languages like German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Hindi. You will be lucky if your preferred language is present in the above list.

However, you do not have the freedom to select a language (from the above list) that is unsupported in your region. For instance, Canadians can only select English or French. This post is intended to share with you an easy and effort-free way to change the language in Amazon’s Alexa app.

Here Are the Steps to Change the Language in Alexa App

Step 1: Find Alexa Homescreen

The first step in changing the language in your Alexa app from English to your native language is to tap open the app from your phone, tablet or any other device. You will see a home screen similar to the one in the picture above.

Step 2: Go-to Device Settings

Next, find the options icon (three horizontal dashes) at the top-left of the device screen. Tap on it and you will see options to add a new device, List, and Notes, so on and so forth. Select the last option labeled “Settings.”

Step 3: Select Language

As shown in the picture above, the app will show you a list of languages available in your country. Select the one you want and wait for the settings to get saved automatically. Once the processing is done, the app will show a pop-up window asking you to confirm your selection. Tap Okay.

Moreover, if the selected language is not available in your country, the pop-up will inform you about it. Otherwise, just tapping Okay will do. Next, another window will pop open with a message “Updating your language may take a few minutes”. The changes will reflect in 5-10 minutes.

Conclusion

There you go! Now your Alexa Device will listen and speak to you in your preferred language. So, changing the language in the Alexa app is as simple as that. You don’t have to be an expert.
